Kendra Minadeo has been illustrating ever since she was a wee lass. While she started young, her professional career as an artist took a few twists and turns before arriving at its current destination…
As a young Edmontonian, she mentored under professional artists and filmmakers while embarking on her own filmmaking journey, winning an Alberta Foundation for the Arts grant to produce a short film series. After graduating from Grant MacEwan University's intense Arts and Cultural Management program, she moved to Ohio where she started a non-profit film organization and festival with a handful of dedicated compatriots. While in Ohio, Kendra pursued additional education in 3D Animation and Design. Later, Kendra moved to Los Angeles where she helped upstart and manage a small Themed Entertainment Design Firm, while drawing and painting at night. Her work was picked up by a local pop culture gallery, jump starting her illustration career. After three years, she left the design firm to pursue full time painting and the magical world of children's book illustration!
Kendra continues to live in lovely Los Angeles with her hilarious husband and a few hardy house plants. When not indulging in books or watching too many shows, she can be found in her studio painting away. With a small brush in one hand and a cup of green tea in the other, she creates a steady stream of immensely adorable and heartwarming pictures!
Kendra is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (SILA).
